Arizona Wedding-Boudoir-High School Senior-Photographer » I'm Stacy Kokes, and I photograph love...

Today is one of those Mondays that feels like a Monday, you know what I mean? The kind of Monday where you are counting down the minutes until Saturday (or at least until nap time!). So needless to say, a coffee date is very welcomed today! Shall we?

This morning Bella and I watched Sean and Catherine’s wedding. It’s no secret that I’m a huge Bachelor/Bachelorette fan! Bella doesn’t usually watch tv (thankfully!). Even when I put something on for her, she watches about 2.4 minutes and then resumes tearing around the house like a tornado. But not today. She was glued to Sean & Catherine’s wedding and was even saying “More Sean! More Sean!”. Which gave me an idea…I should show her OUR wedding video! Hoping it would have the same effect, I proudly hit the play button to share our glorious day with our little girl. Within a couple of minutes she was yelling, “Outside, Mommy! Outside!”. Clearly we are not as entertaining as Sean or Catherine. Dang it!

One full week of P90x3 completed! Only 12 weeks to go. TWELVE weeks to go. What the heck did I get myself into? I better look like a fitness model after this. Gesh!

I have a confession. I am an HGTV addict. Straight up LOVE it! And I am proud to say, that I have turned Joe into an addict as well! We just LOVE dreaming about house design, remodeling, and making our house a home. We secretly would love to flip houses someday or buy a complete fixer-upper to make into our own. Maybe someday! Even though he spends half the year glued to ESPN, I guess his new love for HGTV balances it out. I’ll take it!

This weekend I had the pleasure of documenting Matt & Jessica become husband and wife. It was LEGEN…DARY ;). I can’t wait to share the whole day with you, but for now enjoy this little sneak peek. Straight up GLAM!

Happy Monday everyone! So glad you’re back for another edition of CTM. Let’s do this!

You know that you’re officially old/out of shape when you have a sore hip and the only cause you can think of is, “Well, I did wear high heels yesterday. Yup, that has to be it!”. That was totally me this week. Needless to say, I need to start working out again!

Since my “high heels” low, Joe decided to help jump start my workout plan by buying P90x3. We committed to doing the full 90 days. Today was Day 1. How was it, you ask? Well, it was a little harder than walking around in high heels. Okay…so I couldn’t move from the couch for 45 minutes post-workout (which, sadly, is longer than the entire workout!) but other than that, it was a cake walk ;).

I think I may be the only human in the entire USofA that actually looks forward to filing taxes. Is that embarrassing to admit?! Even though most years we don’t get a refund (thanks a lot SKP), there is something somewhat satisfying about it. (I‘m depressing myself with this confession lol!). Maybe it’s the fact that it’s a chance to look back over a year in it’s entirety; an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve done and accomplished. And reflection can be a beautiful thing. Leave it to me to romanticize filing taxes! Think about that the next time you go to H&R Block. You’re welcome ;).

I am not a football fan, however, both of the teams that I chose to go to the Superbowl are now going (wait for it) to the SUPERBOWL! So I think that makes me a sports expert now, right? In my expertise of all things football, I forecast that the Seahawks will triumph over the Broncos. Mark my words, the Seahawks shall win. Or maybe the Broncos…

Happy Monday!!!

Okay everyone. Get ready, because your Mondays are about to become so much…AwesomER? AwesomeISH? Let’s just say whatever amount of awesome your Monday used to contain, consider it multiplied. And no, I’m not talking about the awesomeness that is Juan Pablo of The Bachelor. I am talking about Coffee Talk Mondays, people! I know many of you have spent countless nights dreaming and longing for the day I would bring CTM back (slight exaggeration perhaps?). Well, your dream has come true, my friend. For those of you who are thinking, “What the heck is Coffee Talk Monday?”. Well, it’s like a virtual coffee date with me. I share randomness of my life and you get to come along for the ride. So without further ado, here is your first CTM post of 2014. It feels good to be back!

I am discovering that the behavior of the “terrible twos” seem remarkably similar to that of a teenage girl. Bella turned two a little over a week ago, but I swear sometimes I am staring at her future teenage self. All of the sudden she is extra-super-sensitive (clear throat…like a teenage girl) and just about anything can bring her to tears. (*Note: I have nothing against teenage girls. In fact, I was one once and I was awesome!). Anyway, yesterday, her cry fest revolved around a Larabar. You know, those amazingly tasty all-natural fruit/nut bars. They are Bella’s favorite and we usually have some on hand at all times. But not yesterday (insert “don don don” sound effect). She asked me for one and I told her we didn’t have any. She asked again. I told her we didn’t have any. This scenario continued. Apparently my child thinks I’m a liar!  So I decided I would let her look in the cabinet to see that there was in fact “No Larabars in the house” like I had been saying. Upon discovering that I was in fact telling the truth, that’s when the tears came. And not just tears. I’m talking “my whole world is over”, fall-to-the-floor, dramatic head motions kinda tears. Just because there was no Larabar in the house! But apparently she is not alone in this “cry over anything” behavior. I think she would get along with these kids quite well.

Ever have those dreams when you’re back in high school (or college) but you can’t remember your class schedule or can’t find your classroom or forgot to study for a test? Ehhh I have been totally having those lately! Or more recently I had a dream that I was at my old dance studio getting ready for competition but I didn’t know the routines because I hadn’t been to rehearsals. So weird. Any dream interpreters out there want to tell me what that’s all about??

I’m not much of a coffee person. That seems ironic considering the name I chose for this blog series, but that’s besides the point! Anyways, my parents LOVE coffee and recently introduced Joe and I to a brand of coffee that I can get down with: Bulletproof Upgraded Coffee. It’s delicious but super pricey. It has something to do with the beans being super pure, pesticide free, etc. Joe, being an engineer, likes things to be proven. He wanted to make sure that if we were paying that much more for coffee that it be that much better-tasting. So he insisted that I do a blind taste test with Bulletproof and another brand lol! We did three different rounds of taste tests. And the results? I was sick of BOTH coffees by the end LOL. I guess I am a tea girl after all.

And that my friends, is CTM. Happy Monday! Don’t forget, we have another coffee (or more likely, tea) date next week :).

As we begin a new year, I can’t help but reflect on 2013. It was a beautiful year full of transition, growth and change both personally and professionally. We spent the first part of 2013 pursuing parenthood through the blessing of adoption. Those of you who have followed our journey know that we did not have an easy road. In the midst of failed adoptions, I found joy when I was behind my lens. Seeing and capturing my client’s most joyful moments reminded me that life is beautiful and brought hope to my heart when it was broken. Many of you poured out encouragement and kind words to help us to keep going when times got tough, and for that we can’t thank you enough.

Then in July, we were blessed with our beautiful daughter, Bella, and you rejoiced with us! Having the opportunity to be a full time mom and a full time photographer was such a new and exciting challenge for me. Being a mom has changed the way I look at photography. I appreciate it even more knowing that moments pass so quickly but a photo keeps that moment alive. As I reflect on this year, I feel grateful. Grateful that I have a business where I can be a mom first and a photographer second. Grateful that I have met so many wonderful people along the way that care not only about my work, but about me. Grateful that I get to look forward to another year as SKP!

Thank you to ALL of my 2013 clients. You have been a blessing to me! Happy 2014 :) xoxo
