For quite awhile I have been flirting with the idea of adding boudoir photography to the SKP repertoire.
I have a heart for empowering women to feel beautiful, so boudoir always seemed like a natural fit. However, before I jumped into it, I needed to make sure that I could do so in a way that would protect the purity, privacy and intimacy of every woman I photograph. Likewise, I want my work to be ‘suitable for all audiences’. As a follower of Christ, these things are super important to me. So I sought the counsel of other Christian boudoir photographers and I learned ways in which I can honor God, my boudoir clients and SKP fans alike. Thus came Beauty Boudoir by Stacy Kokes Photography!
Recently I shared on my blog why I have a heart for women and I thought it was fitting here as well:
‘Our culture is constantly bombarding us women with lies that we are not good enough. Not pretty enough. Not (blank) enough.
I want to make sure that every woman that steps in front of my camera knows that she is enough. She is beautiful. She is strong. She is enough, because she is fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
It is such a privilege to empower women and help them discover their beauty. In the time that we are shooting, I want them to feel on top of the world.
And when they see their images, I want them to see more than their physical beauty. I want them to see themselves as joyful + loved and more beautiful inside than they ever realized.’
More than just empowering women, I want to help enhance marriages as well. Let me take a second to get real…sex is a huge part of marriage, right? Every man reading this just yelled out a hearty AMEN! lol
But life gets busy, monotonous, routine and tiring. We don’t always feel sexy. Some of us barely change out of our pjs throughout the day (shoot…did I just confess that?!). A boudoir session will add some spice to your marriage by allowing you to rediscover your sexiness+confidence. And let’s just say that your husband will be quite happy with the results as well. Win win!
Or maybe you’re about to get married and the word ‘sexy’ isn’t even in your vocbulary. I know many sisters in Christ who are anxiously and nervously awaiting their wedding night wondering how in the world they are going to pull of the ‘sexy’ thing. A boudoir session can help you get comfortable with showing a little skin AND the images make for a great wedding day gift to your fiance!
Maybe your desire for a beauty boudoir session has nothing to do with your man, but rather something you want to do for you! I have known women who do a boudoir session to celebrate weight loss, commemorate a milestone or just for the heck of it!
After thinking about all the ways that boudoir can be used to build up both women and marriages, it was a no brainer. I could not wait to get started!
Below are some images of the first official SKP Beauty Boudoir session with the lovely Teena as my model, and Ashley Nicole as the makeup artist.
My beauty boudoir website has also officially lauched so please check it out: Beauty Boudoir by Stacy Kokes Photography
How is Beauty Boudoir different than other boudoir photography?
There are many styles of boudoir, some sweet and sexy, others more erotic. I chose to call it Beauty Boudoir to really emphasize what I am focusing on; beauty. Yes, you will absolutely channel your inner-sexy, but think Victoria Secret rather than Playboy. I want to bring out the beauty, femininity, softness and sexiness of a woman in a classy, beautiful way. My clients will get photos that both they (and their husband) will enjoy, but the only images that will be seen on the blog or the website will be in the beauty category (aka photos I would be okay showing my 15 year old niece!). Any ‘sexy’ images will be posted in my private FB group (with client’s permission) which you can request to join by emailing me at email@example.com or sending me a FB message.
