I’m a dreamer, always have been, always will be. When I’m not busy living my dreams, I’m busy thinking of what my next ones will be. I wear many hats in my life and I love it! I get to be a mom, a wife, a photographer, a writer and a blogger. How cool is that?!
But before I was any of those things, I was a yoga instructor. True story! In 2007, I graduated with a degree in Exercise and Wellness and began working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer/group fitness instructor. Just a couple months before getting married in July 2008, I went through yoga teacher training and fell head over heels for it. Teaching group fit classes was always my fave, but teaching yoga took the cake! I taught for the next couple years until I decided to go all in with SKP.
Now, when you love something, you can only ignore it for so long, right? Towards the end of last year, I started getting the itch to teach again. I combatted the thoughts with all the reasons why I can’t. I’m already so busy with being a mom and running a photography business. I don’t have time for anything else. What if I’m not any good at it anymore? That was a different season of my life. Blah blah blah! After a lot of prayer and talking with my main squeeze, I realized that God is calling me to more. He wants me to pursue not only my photography and motherhood, but yoga as well. Oh boy, now what?!
Well, I am already a certified yoga teacher, so I could go out and start teaching right away. Clearly that would be the most logical thing to do, right? Perhaps…but that’s not what I’m going to do. Instead, I am going to go the extra mile so that I can be part of something amazing. I am so excited to be joining the Holy Yoga ministry family! They have a program specifically designed for women like myself who are already certified yoga instructors but who want to be part of something more. It’s about more than yoga, it’s about Jesus. Holler!!!
So starting today, I am back in the role of student, so that soon, I will be back in the role of teacher! I would love your prayers and encouragement as I step into this new adventure. I know it will be full of excitement, challenge, Jesus and last but certainly not least, yoga pants. Lots of yoga pants!
I’ve gone to a Holy Yoga class in north Scottsdale, and absolutely loved it. It’s like a yoga class/bible study all mixed together! Came away feeling refreshed in body and spirit. When I started reading your post, I thought to myself- what about Holy Yoga? She’d love it. Then, you mentioned it. So good!
