Hey friends! Glad to see you for another coffee date. I hope you don’t mind my choice of attire this evening. After a full day of remodeling-related errands, Joe’s XL hoodie, my purple Snuggie slippers and my comfy pants that Joe calls my “snow pants” all sounded pretty good! I guess today’s just not my day when it comes to attire. After I put on my first outfit today, I looked in the mirror and thought “Wow, I look like a mixture of Peter Pan & Mr. Rogers”. I was wearing my tan leggings with my tan ankle cowboy boots which together looked very Peter Pan-esque. Couple that with my favorite all-occasion brown sweater and I was definitely rockin’ some Mr. Rogers meets Peter Pan. Not exactly the look I was going for but hey, sometimes you gotta just roll with it!
Note to self: a mattress pad is not a comforter. This past week my mom and I went searching high & low for new bedding for the guest room & the master. Since the guest room has bright walls and accents, we wanted to go with simple bedding. We were digging through the random selection at Ross when I found “the one”. Simple white with a taupe design. Awesome. Calvin Klein quality. Wonderful. Queen size. Perfect! We were all ready to buy it until my mom exclaimed “Stacy! This is a mattress pad!”. Whoops! That was close. At least we discovered it before we got it home. Since then we’ve found something “that will work” but I’m not in love. I’m still keeping my eyes open for the perfect bedding. I know it’s out there somewhere just waiting for me to take it home :).
Choosing paint colors has probably taken 15 years off my life. I pondered and mulled over finding the perfect shade until my head hurt. My poor dad told me months ago to decide on paint colors so that I wouldn’t hold up his work flow. But of course I had to wait to get my mom’s opinion because she’s a redecorating guru! So far I’ve loved the two colors we’ve done in Bedroom #1 aka “The Man Cave” and Bedroom #2 aka “My parents room”. I finally chose the color for our bedroom today but we haven’t had a chance to get it on the walls yet. Not gonna lie, I’m nervous. Of all the rooms, I’m obviously most excited about what our bedroom will look like. I just hope that it all comes together the way I envision. Notice I’m not giving you many details at this point. You’ll have to check back to see how it all turns out ;).
Onto a happier note, I think I died and went to shabby chic heaven last week. On Saturday, Joe, my parents and I made our first trip to the Potato Barn. If you haven’t been there before and you like shabby furniture you will die! It is fabulous in there! We picked out a couple different headboard options and a few “if we have money left over” items. And of course, I have to give a shout-out to the ever-amazing, always-wonderful Craigslist for providing me with 3 wonderful pieces this week. We just bought an Ikea bookcase/storage shelf for the Man Cave which will fit perfectly in there. A $130 3 mo. old item for $50…yes PLEASE! And now for my favorite buy so far: our dresser set. Antique white finish, distressed edges, bowed-drawers, Basset furniture. Music to my ears and candy to my eyes. These pieces are simply divine. And the best part is, we got them for an amazing price. Can’t beat Craiglist/Thrift store finds!
So overall, we are making progress! I’m looking forward to when we are all finished so I can actually let my parents enjoy Arizona instead of putting them to work, when I can reach into my purse and find something other than paint samples and molding pieces, and when my office will be my office once again, instead of a holding spot for bedroom furniture! But we’re having fun and loving the ride. We’re so grateful for my amazing parents who are so willing to give of their time and skills to help make our house a home. It’s a beautiful thing! Speaking of, while I’m writing this, they are busy painting our bedroom. So while I’d love to sit and chat…I need to get back to work. Hopefully next week you’ll get to see the project from start to finish :)
Happy Monday friends! See you next week. Lots of love- Stacy
Everything you need for remodeling. Tools, tool belt, paint and coffee :).
Stacy, is that seriously the only photo you’re going to produce today?! All the exciting paint colors and furniture finds and we get a picture of a can of paint and a tool belt?! At least get your dad and his “cool, baby” pose or your Peter Pan getup. I’m not sure which would be funnier. :)
Haha I know, I know. To be honest, I was happy that I even got a photo up at all! Coffee Talk Mondays got pushed to the bottom of the to-do list yesterday. Plus, I know that the suspense is building! And from the words of my dad…”you’ll have to BEHR with me.” Classic.
Ah yes, keep ’em coming, Neil!
LOL…
Totally laughing at the mattress pad near mishap. Such a “Stacy”. I bet you both were having a good laugh at that one. Can’t wait to see the progress. :) Thanks for the coffee date. Always a pleasure.
