Coffee Talk Monday :: On Tying Shoes and Finger Painting

Mar 9, 2015

Moment of truth. Sometimes I just don’t feel like I have anything worthwhile to say. Don’t get me wrong, most of the time I’m hilarious (I kid!) but there are days when I just feel so…boring. I think we all feel like that sometimes, right? I mean I know I’m not ‘all dat and a bag of chips’. Clearly I can’t be since I just used an early 90’s reference like it’s still relevant! In fact, when I write these CTM posts my hope is that I will have one person read it. Just one. Anything beyond that is icing on the cake. So if you’re reading this, thanks for being my icing, that’s really sweet of you. Oh my, I just totally pulled what I like to call a ‘dad joke’. Wow, this ship is sinking fast already!

The weather has been just about perfect here, which means everyone and their mom will be visiting soon. My sis and her fam are heading to Casa Kokes tomorrow for a week and I can not wait! I am looking forward to some serious sister time which most likely will involve laying in the sun, eating and drinking deliciousness and laughing until we almost pee our pants (make that swim suits, actually!).

I confess that I have not progressed past 1st grade in a couple areas: handwriting and shoe tying. My handwriting seriously looks no better than a five year old. It’s quite embarrassing. As an “artist” of sorts, I think most people assume that I would have other artsy qualities as well or at least have pretty handwriting. I’m sorry to disappoint you all. The only beautiful thing about my handwritten letters to my clients is the thought behind them! Confession #2: I tie my shoes with two “bunny ears”. Still. To be honest, I just thought that’s how everyone tied their shoes. That was until Joe saw me tie my shoes and never let me live it down. From then on, I went out of my way to make sure no one watched me tie my shoes for fear of being mocked! All my bunny ears friends, show me some love so I know I’m not alone.

Sometimes in life, you just need to stop what you’re doing and finger paint. Umm so fun! Here is my little artist-in-the-making’s creation. Happy Monday everyone!
