Well friends, I wasn’t sure if it was going to happen there for a while, but I am more than happy to say that the Kitchen Cabinet Painting Extraordinaire Project is complete! We started strong early last week but then got hit with a nasty virus that took out both me and my parents for about a week. Yuk! Thankfully, my parents are all stars and got right back at it while I was still recovering. And the end result? Magnificence! I absolutely LOVE how this turned out. I seriously feel like we did a major kitchen remodel all thanks to some paint! Before I show you the reveal, let me give you the skinny on what we did, what we spent, etc.
Supplies:
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (3 quarts Pure White, 1 Quart Old White)
Annie Sloan Clear Wax
Paint Brushes (obvi)
Motsenbocker Lift Off Cleaner
Cheesecloth
New Hardware
Cost: approx $350
The thing about Annie Sloan paint is that it’s expensive but it covers a lot of ground and you don’t need to sand between coats, etc. We started off cleaning all the cabinets with a simple degreaser, then got to work painting! Originally, I was under the impression that it would cover in just one coat but we needed to do 3 coats which was a little more work than we were anticipating. Even still, this paint is great and I highly recommend it. We started off painting just Pure White but it was too, well, white so we did a 3/1 mix of Pure White and Old White to come up with the final color. After the 3 coats were painted, we put on coat of clear wax, added the hardware and VOILA!
It was a LOT of work, but I am so glad we did it! Are you ready to see?? Here are the B+A shots!
leave some LOVE!
