I have gotten to be a part of TWO proposals in the last two weeks. Let me tell you, they are the most exciting, adrenaline-pumping shooting experiences ever! Jon + Allison go to our church and Alli’s also our faithful dog-sitter (thank God for her). When Jon contacted me a few months back to see if I would be interested in capturing some “candid proposal shots”, I answered with a resounding YES! Here’s how it was going to go down. Jon takes Allison on one surprise date every month. SIDE NOTE: I think every boyfriend, fiance or husband should start implementing that into that routine immediately! Amen ladies?! Okay, back to the story! So Jon surprised Alli with an early morning hot air balloon ride followed by a sweet walk in the park. Jon & I meet up a couple days before the proposal to pick out “the spot” in the park. The tricky part was figuring out where I would hide/wait for them until he got down on one knee. We finally had a plan in place, although I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I was like really nervous. I kept thinking, “What if she spots me and I ruin the whole thing??!!”. This is a lot of pressure friends! And on top of that, I was going to be coming there right from teaching class in the complete opposite direction so I had to rush. I got there about 10 minutes before they arrived, set up my blanket behind a tree where I would be “reading” until they arrived. From where I was sitting I would be able to see them come long before they could see me. Well, apparently I did TOO good of a job hiding because Jon passed up “the spot”! “Oh no! Now what? Is he going to keep going or is he going to turn around? And if they turn around they will surely see me!” Can you tell I was a little nervous? They ended up turning around so I just had to roll with it. I scooted behind the tree a little more so that my back was to them and when I looked their direction he was in “the spot”! Siiiiiggggghhhh. Jon did a quick over-the-shoulder glance in my direction to make sure I was ready and then it was game on! Watching this proposal happen was magical. I couldn’t hear what they were saying but I could feel the love, excitement and emotion. And Alli was on cloud 9! Even when I moved in closer towards them, she didn’t even notice me for a long time. I was officially paparazzi for the day and it was awesome ;). She finally saw me after a few minutes and ran to give me a huge hug! Perfect, perfect, perfect. Jon + Allison, I am SO excited for you guys. Marriage is the most amazing gift and I know you both will live it out to the fullest. Congrats again :)
Right before he got down on one knee.
Chills.
She said yes!
I love the shot on the right. Alli has the perfect “giddy girl” look.
Congrats you two!
Thank you so so so much once again for being there to capture this moment! I absolutely love these pictures and love that we have the candid, happening in the moment shots to keep FOREVER!
