Vintage Love Story: {Styled Shoot}

Jul 19, 2010

I have been wanting to do a styled shoot for a long time now. For those of you who don’t know what a “styled shoot” is, let me explain. It starts with a vision. Think of it as a story that I want to tell through the art of photography. In order to make that vision a reality, you need a lot of help. Models, vendors, hours of thrift store shopping…all so that your story can be told. For me, that vision was a quaint vintage wedding in a grove. Right away, I knew exactly the right couple for the part. So I called up my friend Audra and told her all about it, and instantly she became my right-hand gal to make this shoot happen! Her & her husband Justin have such an amazing vintage style that I absolutely ADORE. You should see how cute their house is! So Audra and I spent hours going to thrift stores to find the perfect props for the shoot. I couldn’t have done this without her! Next, I knew that I needed flowers. Again, I knew exactly who to call. Sugar Magnolia! Joe & I met them a couple years ago when we modeled for one of their advertisements and I marveled at their flowers. Seriously their work is UNBELIEVABLE! And I could get lost in their shop for hours. They have the best gifts, flowers, and chocolates around. Do yourself a favor and check them out! Next, I needed a cake. Thank God, my friend Darcy recommended Ella from Classic Cakes and Confections. I emailed Ella a photo of a cake that I was envisioning, but when I went to go pick it up my mouth dropped. They completed exceeded my expectations with their beautiful sugar work and creativity. Again, you NEED to check them out if you need a cake for any occasion. Hair and makeup was a given. My good friend Jolie Luna is the BEST at anything beauty related. Hair, make-up, you name it…she rocks! She gave Audra just the right look for the shoot. Lastly, I want to thank two people who out of the kindness of their heart, made this shoot even better. Tiff, thank you for donating the amazing desk. It seriously made the shoot. And Sandra, thank you for letting us borrow your camera. Joe got some of my favorite shots of the day thanks to you. And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for. The Vintage Love Story comes to life.

Again, special thanks to all of my vendors!
